Truly Centered
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. (Col 2:6-8)
Do you have to “do” certain things to earn favor with God? The idea that we can earn salvation contradicts God’s Word. But if we don’t truly understand what a Christ-centered life is all about, we can be deceived by things that sound reasonable but are actually lies.
The apostle Paul wrote to the Colossians about this problem. False teachers were working their way into this young church and bringing with them a list of dos and don’ts that had nothing to do with Christ! Paul countered by illustrating what a Christ-centered life should look like. No area was off limits: marriage, evangelism, ministry, friendships, conflict, forgiveness, and legalism.
In this 13-message series, Pete Briscoe explores the characteristics of a life surrendered to Christ by leading you step by step through Colossians. Insightful, and very practical, you’ll find Pete’s teaching to be an excellent blueprint for godly living.
