In 1 John, the apostle is concerned about how believers in the early church are living. Concerned they have become too casual and have watered down core aspects of faith—divine love, absolute truth, and confidence in the good news of the Gospel. John is rightly concerned because when enthusiasm wanes, the church is at risk of falling prey to false teachers, political correctness, and secular tolerance. Sound relevant to today’s culture?
